Excursions in Portugal: Nature and Culture

Our place is conveniently located in a hilly, wooded area, offering excellent opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. There are creeks and rivers and the near-by large reservoirs of the dammed Rio Zézere can be used for fishing, boating and swimming.

This part of the country is rich on old castles, churches and monasteries. You can find ROMAN RUINS (CONIMBRIGA is most famous with beautiful mosaics) and STONE- BRIDGES, CENTURY-OLD VILLAGES ENCLOSED IN OLD WALLS.

If you like to experience a lively, young city with old traditions, go to COIMBRA. Its University, high above the banks of the Mondego, is one of the oldest ones in Europe and has a priceless library and botanical garden. End the day in one of the cafes at the Downtown Square and watch people. It's fun.

An other place of interest is TOMAR. Above the town is the castle of the Knight Templars with the fabulous additions of King Manuels Church and the Renaissance Cloister.

Visit FÁTIMA, the place of pilgrimage.

Or take an excursion to:
Abrantes
Batalha
Buçaco
Leiria
Figueira da Foz
Pombal

Or leave all the culture behind and drive to the ATLANTIC COAST
with its miles and miles of sandy beaches and dunes.
WE WOULD LOVE TO GREET YOU HERE!
